Q. I am an educator / higher education institution administrator. How can Discovery Hub help me / my institution?
A. Discovery Hub can offer tailored training sessions and packages to support you to develop pedagogy in diverse / cross-cultural situations, better integrate diverse groups of students, and bridge between the Chinese and Western academic environments.
Q. Do I need to do anything to prepare for an initial consultation?
A. You don’t need to do anything specific, but it’s helpful to send me a brief overview of your situation and goals beforehand, so that I can better prepare to help you.
Q. Can we meet online? Can you offer online training sessions?
A. Yes, of course! We can meet via Zoom, Tencent Meeting, Microsoft Teams, WeChat, or (for informal chats) just an old-fashioned phone call.
Q. How much do your services cost?
A. Discovery Hub offers tailored support depending on client needs, so it varies. After an initial consultation, I will send you a quote (or set of quotes for different options).
Q. How long does an academic success coaching session last?
A. It lasts one hour (long enough to get into depth, but not too long as to be exhausting.)
Q. Will you write/translate my university application materials, job application materials, or CV for me?
A. No, that would be unethical (and I recommend staying away from companies that do this – they usually provide very generic products that are easily spotted). However, I will provide detailed comments and suggestions for improvement on application materials that you write yourself, as well as in-depth guidance on how to get started. I also use a mind-mapping technique to help you develop personal or research statements.
Q. Can we meet in Chinese?
A. I am very happy to chat informally with clients in Chinese. Training sessions, meetings with students and academic success coaching sessions are held in English.
Q. Do you offer English language lessons?
A. Language lessons are out of Discovery Hub’s scope.
Q. How can I pay Discovery Hub?
A. RMB payments can be made by WeChat pay or bank transfer. Download Discovery Hub’s WeChat payment QR code and bank account information here. For non-RMB payments please contact Pippa directly.
Q. Can you provide a fapiao (Chinese reciept for reimbursement purposes)?
Yes.
